WAAM's Weekly Update
Tuesday May 13, 2003
In a continuing effort to keep our membership informed on airport issues, WAAM publishes a newsletter, periodic email
updates and notices in the local newspapers. We have now started a new weekly email service. We are also in the process
of finalizing plans for a bi-monthly newspaper feature called "Plane Talk".
More information on this will be published next week.
The Airport Exploratory Study is underway. You can see what has been accomplished so far by visiting our website;
The AES links are listed under the heading - Airport Exploratory Study - about half-way down the homepage.
You will find a wealth of information on our website and we welcome any comments you might have to make it even better
and more informative.

The following was received from Sue Palmeri, the Operations Manager at the Martin County Airport.
THIS EMAIL IS PART OF AN ONGOING EFFORT TO KEEP THE COMMUNITY INFORMED
OF EVENTS AFFECTING WITHAM FIELD.
In an article in this morning's Stuart News Jim Turner reported that the "Martin County commissioners are expected to be
asked today to add $148,000 of the county money to a state grant to pay for the additional electronic equipment that will
watch over the aircraft parking areas and to expand weekday security patrols at the airport."
Unfortunately, this information was inaccurate. Clarification is as follows:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Aviation Office has offered Martin County a Supplemental Joint
Participation Agreement for enhancing Security at the Airport. This supplemental, totaling $148,000.00, will be an increase
to the original grant and is funded 100% by FDOT with no cost to the Airport or the taxpayers.
Please contact me at (772) 463-2869 if you have any questions or require any additional information.
Thank you, Sue Palmeri, Operations Manager, Martin County Airport
